Packy Eckola, a native of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, resides in Crystal Falls, Michigan. There you can find her teaching at the Art Barn studio and gallery which she owns and operates. She studied at Oakland University under nationally known colorist Rene Radell. Packy is a nationally known artist and works exclusively in oil paints. She has won many awards such as the Manhattan Arts International Award of Excellence and her art is in many galleries including the Times Square Gallery in New York.

As an art teacher, Packy developed the Simon Says Art Series © to provide the teacher with a step by step program for teaching children how to draw. The techniques can be used with regular classroom children, the gifted, learning disabled, emotionally disturbed, or other handicapped children.

As an author Packy has published a well received book on life and growing up during World War II titled Hughitt Street. Based on her experiences as a young girl during the War Years, she conveys in a fact-based historical book on how World War II impacted the lives of people who lived there at the time.

Packy has also published a book of poetry titled Pull Of The Pen. As a visual artist, Packy Eckola found self-expression in art. However, when faced with life's deepest blow, the unexpected death of her husband Jack, she discovered comfort in recording her thoughts through the written word, expressed as poems. "I did this for myself, but later put it together as a book with the hope of helping someone else who is going through a similar situation."
